The Month of Ramadan and Its Health Benefits

 


Ramadan is the holy month in the Islamic calendar, 29-30 days long. During this month, the Muslim ummah keeps fasting. They offer Taravieh at night as part of prayer. After this month Muslims celebrate a festival called Eid-ul-Fitr

In Islam, keep fasting is mandatory as it is the order of Allah (SWT). Fasting is a condition or state of the human body when no food or liquid is taken in. Not only food and drinks but acts like; sins, bad deeds, and bad words are strictly not practiced. The purpose of fasting is to kill carcinogenic cells in the human body by keeping the stomach empty. This is a divinity that establishes benevolence with humans. For fasting, one has to wake up early in the morning, take breakfast, and stop eating on summons call (Adhan, Azan). The time of breakfast till the call is called Sehar. The duration of the fast is from Sehar till evening. In the evening the fast is opened with Azan. The fast opening time is called Iftar. As a tradition, there are lots of food items on the iftar table varying from dates, fruit salads, pakoras, channa chaat, and other spiced stuff to sweet juices. 

Taravieh of Ramadan is offered as part of the night prayer. It can be offered at mosques collectively and at home. The purpose of Taravieh is to submit and supplicate to Allah. This helps in the digestion of food too. Taravieh is a slight workout that is good for our health. Taravieh is about 20 Rakats but one can offer 8, 10, and 12 up to 20.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a gifted festival from Allah (SWT) to his pious men. On the occasion, every Muslim wears new dresses and shoes, and girls print henna/mehndi on their hands as part of the culture. Sweet dishes are made in the morning as a happy start to the festival. Eid prayer is offered in mosques. People meet and greet and share happiness all around. Eid-ul-Fitr is normally a day festival that comes on the arrival of the new lunar month of the Islamic calendar called Shawal.

In short, Ramadan is the gifted time for blessings of Allah (SWT) and a month of mercy, forgiveness, and a pathway to Jannah. Happy 2021 Ramadan in advance.

  1. Very nice and useful article. Everyone should read this article. We are lookingforward to month of Ramadan here. Also, halaal foods are very important for the muslims nowadays. Technology presents everything to us fastly but We are worry about the store bought foods (fabrication foods).
